
Beginning on Tuesday at 8 a.m., the portion of Route 340 at Valentine Avenue will be closed to all traffic through midnight Aug. 21.
Crews will be performing maintenance activities, weather permitting, said state transportation officials. So motorists should follow the posted detour and expect delays.
Please use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to flaggers and all traffic control devices.

As of Aug. 1, Orangetown has commenced Phase II of its Sidewalk Project on Route 340, restricting pedestrians and traffic flow until Aug. 15.
Northbound Route 303 traffic attempting to turn right onto Route 340 will be detoured north to turn right onto Kings Highway in Orangeburg instead. Southbound Route 303 traffic attempting to turn left onto Route 340 will be detoured south to turn left onto Kings Highway in Tappan.

Both detours will bring motorists back to Route 340 in the Sparkill area. They will be in effect from 9 am to 4:30 p.m. until on or about Aug. 15.
Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
