Small NJ Earthquake Recorded by Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades

The Lamont-Doherty Cooperative Seismographic Network in Palisades, NY recorded a magnitude 1 earthquake, 5.6 km below the surface, at 10:01 p.m. EDT on Aug. 8.
The United States Geological Survey confirmed that the 1.0-magnitude earthquake happened about 2 kilometers north of Wanaque in Passaic County, NJ. The observatory reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 3.5 miles.

News 12 reported receiving calls from Morris and Passaic County residents who felt the earthquake, but the impact of the event was not immediately known Tuesday morning.
