Taste of Rockland Returns

A Taste of Rockland, ARC of Rockland’s annual culinary extravaganza will take place September 26, 6 p.m. at the Hilton Pearl River. The event will feature cuisine and fine wine and spirits from more than 40 of the area’s top restaurants and beverage purveyors plus a lavish Dessert Showcase and a spectacular Silent Auction.

“This is the 21st anniversary of A Taste of Rockland,” says ARC CEO Carmine Marchionda. “We have really come of age. The array of dishes and some surprise additions to the evening, promise to make this the best Taste yet.”

Mr. Marchionda expresses gratitude to the chefs and restaurateurs. “We are fortunate that these talented men and women donate their time and their delicious fare for the evening. A Taste of Rockland is a celebration of generosity in every sense of the word. ”

ARC of Rockland provides services and supports to 1200 men, women and children with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. The agency was founded 62years ago by a small group of dedicated parents. Today, offerings include Prime Time for Kids Early Learning Center for preschoolers with and without developmental disabilities; The Prime Time Upper School for students ages 5-21 with autism spectrum disorders; Franklin Square, a post high school campus in Pearl River; employment training and job placement; 28 community residences and ARC in Motion, an initiative through which small groups of adults are engaged in events, activities, volunteerism and employment opportunities at sites throughout the County and its environs. ARC of Rockland also owns and operates Strawtown Jewelry in New City and Glaze Pottery and Art Studio in Orangetown. “For many years ARC has urged area businesses to employ people with developmental disabilities,” says Mr. Marchionda. “In purchasing these local businesses, we are proud to say that ARC of Rockland is leading by example.”
