Community Corner

Two Local Organizations - Two National Organizations

How the GAA in Orangeburg & the American Legion in Pearl River are showing their respect and gratitude to our Veterans.

The Extended Family of the “Rockland Homes for Heroes Charity’ which operates the Permanent Affordable Supportive Apartments for former homeless veterans on the historic Camp Shanks property on Western Highway in Tappan herein expresses our profound gratitude to the GAA for its very thoughtful generous holiday gift package of food to the residents.

The packages contained more than just food for one meal. Brona McGirl and Nicola O’Hare, organized the packages obviously with great caring love. Both ladies represented the GAA, Gaelic Athletic Association, located on Old Orangeburg Road in Orangeburg.

The GAA is largest Irish sports organization in the world and this GAA is the largest club outside of Ireland.

The packages were delivered by Dan Davin of the American Legion Post on Railroad Avenue in Pearl River, another iconic national charity serving our veterans since 1919. Dan had also delivered some holiday treats for our residents at Thanksgiving which were provided by the Pearl River Elks.

What does this tell us about our community ?
