Visitation, Service for Edward D. Cannon, Sr.

The Chestnut Ridge resident was 97.

Edward Daniel Cannon, Sr. of Chestnut Ridge, NY died August 31, 2015 at age 97.

Born February 17, 1918 in Hoboken, NJ to John and Madeline (Ferretti) Cannon. He honorably served in the US Army during WWII.

Edward was one of the Founding Fathers and the First Treasurer of Chestnut Ridge, NY.

For over 20 years he taught CCD for St. Joseph’s Church and was an active member of the St. Anthony’s Senior Club. Edward worked for the NYS Banking Department as a Bank Examiner and also worked for the Federal Reserve Bank.

Predeceased by his wife Anne (Scully) Cannon and daughter Madeleine Byer. Survived by his loving children Barbara Jean Fairclough (husband Richard) and Edward Daniel Cannon (wife Terese), cherished grandchildren Christine, Keith, Matthew, Gena, Tracey, Andrew, Preston, Alexandra and Brandon, adored great grandchildren Katie Jean, Nora, Natasha, Natalia and Callum and devoted companion Joan Leckey.

Visitation Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern, NY. Funeral Mass Saturday 11:30am at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet, NY followed by an interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
