
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — The Briarcliff Board of Education will hold a public hearing Thursday on its budget proposal for 2021-22.
The $53,692,283 spending plan holds spending steading, with just a 0.58 percent increase over the current budget. The tax levy increase would be 1.49 percent, far below the state's property tax cap of 4.45 percent.
Estimated 2021-22 school taxes on the average single-family home would be, before either basic or enhanced STAR deductions, $16,096 in Ossining and $16,517 in Mount Pleasant.

"We do understand the need for fiscal prudence and are committed to our ongoing duty to preserve and improve the instructional program moving forward," school administrators and trustees said in the 2021-22 budget book.

greater flexibility through the use of movable walls, dedicated instructional space and the integration of common spaces.
Two people are running for two seats on the Board of Education: Michael Haberman, who is running for re-election, and Swaroop Reddy. Trustee Kristen Heimann is not seeking re-election.
The hearing will be held in the Middle School Theater at 444 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
The Budget Vote and School Board Election will be held from 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. May 18 in the Todd Elementary School K-2 Cafeteria, 45 Ingham Road, Briarcliff Manor.
