Briarcliff, Pleasantville Create Holiday 2020 Traditions

Write to Santa, put your outdoor display on the list and check out the tree.

Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville are coping with a holiday season made very different in 2020 by the coronavirus.

Pleasantville won't hold its annual tree lighting and sing-along. No surprise — it's 2020. However, as of Friday, the tree will be lit and a new dreidel will be on display. So residents are invited to visit Christmas tree island (Manville Road and Great Oak Lane) and admire the display "at your socially distanced, masked leisure."

Briarcliff has created what is sure to become a tradition.

"Did you dress your yard to celebrate your holiday? Can the space station see your lights? Did you line your yard with inflatables? If you said yes to any of the above, we want to admire it," recreation department officials said on the village website. Go there to learn how to add your house and yard to the “Be Merry, Be Bright” list. There is only one condition - everyone has to be able to see your decorations from the road.

Meanwhile, Pleasantville is still running its annual Letters to Santa operation.
