Colorful Holiday Market, Rain or Shine

Preorder shopping Tues, 7pm - Thurs, 7pm; Walk up shopping Saturdays, 8:30am-1pm.

The Pleasantville Farmers Market is OPEN at Memorial Plaza this Saturday, May 29. Stop by then to collect items you preorder tonight or to browse as a walk up shopper. The growing season is gaining momentum with more seasonal vegetables arriving each week, including asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, head lettuce and fresh cut greens and herbs. Our bakeries have rustic breads, our dairies have great cheeses, our protein producers have options for the grill, our baked goods producers have many sweet treats. The producers at the Market have so many ways to help make your Memorial Day Weekend special.

This week we complete our roster of producers with the first visit by Dobler Farms. As field growers their offerings are modest this week but farmers Erika and Peter Dobler say they'll be piling their tables high soon as summer is starting to take hold. Tonight you can browse and preorder from their PFM-O store. On Saturday they'll be located at the top of the market near Teagevity.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

Recent changes in NYS COVID-19 regulations have enabled us to modify our health & safety protocols for customers at the Pleasantville Farmers Market -- balancing changes in mask use with a marketplace that remains the same in terms of distancing, layout and the option to wear a mask as an extra precaution if preferred. Our updated policies are:

  • Vaccinated shoppers may visit the Market without wearing a mask
  • Unvaccinated shoppers are requested to still wear a mask covering nose and mouth while shopping
  • The Market is collecting documentation of vaccinations for vaccinated vendors and Market volunteers who wish to be in the marketplace without a mask
  • NYS regulations still require markets to maintain all distancing measures at this time

The Market will continue to re-evaluate its health & safety protocols as NYS updates their rules and regulations for farmers markets.

The first 80 kids will get a FREE Market Sprouts bag to take their activity home in.

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

First visit to Pleasantville for Dobler Farms Saturday. This family farm has over three generations of dedication growing produce in Dix Hills and Calverton, LI. This week they have asparagus, rhubarb, head lettuce, spinach, arugula and many herbs. Next week chard, radishes and snap peas will arrive. Seek them out in PFM-O, and at the top of the Market near Teagevity.

Mead Orchards will have their second week of sweet strawberries. Dobler Farms, Gajeski Produce and Wright's Farm will join in soon. It's going to be berry good month.

Merchant's Daughter Ciderworks will make their second ever visit to the Market Saturday. This small New York hard cider producer sources heirloom apples from family-owned Hudson Valley orchards and applies a winemaker approach to create award winning ciders.

Chaseholm Farm Creamery brings to market quarts of yogurt made from their cow's milk. Now they've added NEW maple yogurt (same 1 quart size is offered for $8).

Gajeski Produce, Dobler Farms and Maple View Farm have rhubarb this week - make a delicious compote for your morning yogurt or your evening ice cream!

Margery of Conant Valley Jams notes that she will bring her first batch of tart, Spring Apricot jam this week. Preorder or walk up to get yours.

Edgwick Farm has two seasonal pairings this week with their fresh goat cheese. One is strawberry rhubarb jam layered under the cheese. And now that green garlic is finally being harvested, the other one is a pesto made from the organic green garlic (using sunflowers seeds so nut allergies are not triggered) and layered under the cheese. Take your pick...sweet or savory...or try both!

Spice Revolution is saying it: grilling season is here! They've added a new Grilling & BBQ section to their PFM-O store. Whether it's steak, asparagus or mushrooms hitting your grill (or all three) Spice Revolution has you covered.

Red Barn Bakery, Strudel House, Wright's Farm and Dutch Desserts will all have delicious baked goods - no way you should head home without dessert on your mind.

Spirits Lab is in for an extra visit. Review their items in PFM-O. Saturday they'll have some creative and fun drinks for socializing this holiday weekend.

This Saturday Simply Planted Greenhouses will have beautiful Drop-n-Grows (sun and shade) for quick planting in pots or gardens and they will have 10" hanging baskets, assorted 5" annuals, herbs and vegetables too.

Kiernan Farms has a lot of specials for the holiday! They have a SALE on Pork Rack Ribs at $8.50/lb (reg. $10.50; average size 3 lbs), and Pork Country Style Ribs at $9.75/lb (reg. $13.25/lb; 2 pieces per pack).
