Coronavirus Cancels Pleasantville Music Festival For 2021
It's the second year in a row.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — With the pandemic now into its 15th month, the organizers of the Pleasantville Music Festival announced the popular event will not be held in 2021. It's the second year in a row the coronavirus has canceled the festival.
"New York health officials are still prohibiting entities from holding outdoor events in the size we need to succeed," PMF Executive Director Bruce Figler wrote in a letter to fans on the website. "Even though there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, that light remains too far off in the distance for us to properly plan."
Just 28 percent of New Yorkers were fully vaccinated against the coronavirus as of April 18. Statewide, the coronavirus positivity rate was 2.35 percent, but in the Hudson region, which has remained stubbornly higher, the positivity rate as of April 18 was 3.37 percent.

"We are exploring the possibility of finding an alternate date later in the year when, hopefully, things will have improved, but there will be many obstacles to overcome," Figler said. "Regardless of what happens this year, mark your calendar for July 9, 2022, because that promises to be a party for the ages. In the meantime, please keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates."
