Feeding Westchester Issues Virtual Volunteer Challenge

The goal is to create 10,000 bags by June 30 for the nonprofit hunger-relief organization's ​Help From Home program.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Feeding Westchester, the county’s largest nonprofit hunger-relief organization, has issued a virtual volunteer challenge.

The goal is to create 10,000 bags for the Help From Home program by June 30.

Help From Home is one of several virtual projects which Feeding Westchester began when in-person opportunities were limited by the coronavirus pandemic. Designed to try at home, with co-workers or a local community group, these projects range from packing breakfast or lunch sacks for school-aged children to hosting a virtual food drive.

So far, the Help From Home program, which launched over the holiday season, has provided more than 20,000 bags of food to its nearly 300 partners and programs for distribution.

All bags are to be assembled at home and dropped off at Feeding Westchester's office.

Volunteers can put together or all of three simple meals following Feeding Westchester's easy rules:

  • Chicken and Rice Dinner
  • PB&J
  • Mac and Cheese and More

Drop off completed bags in the collection bins outside of the agency's building at 200 Clearbrook Road in Elmsford between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. every Monday through Friday.
