Flood Control: Work On Saw Mill Parkway To Last 8 Months

Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way along a 1.3 mile stretch.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — The Saw Mill River Parkway will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Exit 26 in Mount Pleasant and Exit 30 in Pleasantville for the next eight months, starting Monday.

Construction crews will be working on two bridge structures and elevating that section of the parkway.

All traffic between Grant Street and the Sprain Brook Parkway interchange will be shifted slightly to the east.

This traffic shift will begin on Monday, weather permitting.

The work on a 1.3-mile stretch is meant to deal with 100-year flood projections.

The of newly constructed road will be somewhat elevated. Drainage improvements will more efficiently convey surface water away.

The two current bridges that carry the Saw Mill River Parkway over the Saw Mill River near the Marble Avenue exit will be replaced with two new widened structures.

Remember, slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
