Lane Closures On The Taconic Parkway Saturday

Lane closures will occur Saturday on the Taconic State Parkway between Route 117 and Pines Bridge Road in Mount Pleasant and New Castle, weather permitting.

Work crews have to cut down the overgrowth on the edges of the parkway.

Some lanes will be closed southbound from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and some northbound from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to "facilitate vegetation control."

Anticipate delays and plan accordingly.

Follow the guidelines in the Move Over campaign and help out the folks doing the work. Move over a lane, if safely possible, or slow down significantly whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.

Slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.

Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
