Make a Difference, Making Dinner

Preorder Online: Tues, 7:00pm thru Thurs, 7:00pm; then collect items Saturday at the Market 9:00 - 11:30am.

Home cooked meals bring families together. These meals add color, flavor and variety to your week. The task of gathering ingredients at the Pleasantville Farmers Market helps many of us to see friends briefly. Trying new recipes can offer a form of cultural exchange and travel. The Market brings in producers with the best ingredients and prepared foods we're likely to find. All these opportunities can offer a positive effect to your week and menu, but they also make a big difference for your producers -- helping them continue to provide their delicious, regionally-grown food and protect nearby open spaces. So a win-win on many levels! See you outdoors at Memorial Plaza.

Know Before You Go
To mitigate the risks posed by our continuing health crisis please ensure you do your part to keep our marketplace open and safe:

  • Wear a mask covering both nose and mouth when visiting the Market
  • Physically distance yourself 6' from other shoppers while in the marketplace
  • To help lessen crowding please keep your visit to the Market as short as possible
  • Preorder items -- that is our most efficient way of getting customers in and out quickly
  • Select just one member of your family as the "designated shopper" to send to the Market
  • If arriving as a couple, bring enough reusable bags so that you can split up shopping duties
  • Please do not use the Market as a social or family outing at this time
  • Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick, especially if you have a temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, or shortness of breath. If experiencing these symptoms contact the New York State Department of Health COVID-19 hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to provide guidance.

CAPS FOR SALE!

NEW in PFM-O this week:
Show your support for the Market and keep warm with a toasty fleece-lined PFM hat! Select either the cuffed hat (with a 3" folding cuff) or our uncuffed beanie.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Eat your greens! Something many people don't know is that the leaves of vegetables are richest in nutrient content, followed right after by the flowers and the stems. The darker the leaves the greater the vitamins and minerals. Spinach, Swiss chard, kale and turnip greens are all high in nutrients and low in calories and should be eaten frequently!"

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS For Saturday:

NEW! Teagevity & BeanLuv are rolling out their popular drinks, bottled to go! You either can preorder loose tea (2oz. kraft bags), roasted coffee beans (8oz. kraft bags) OR choose from new 16oz. bottles of these favorites: BeanLuv's Cold Brew and Tea 2go teas (Hibiscus Pineapple, Blood Orange & Hibiscus, Strawberry Fields, Ginger Root, Elderberry and Chaga).

Mead Orchards has 20 varieties of apples to offer for baking and snacking. They offer apple cider and cherry apple cider. They sell applesauce with one ingredient: their Hudson Valley apples! Please check out all Mead's items and preorder tonight.

Gajeski Produce has well stored Russet potatoes (and more). With an eye on those potatoes and a goal to produce cheerfully delicious, warming dishes in deep winter, check out this recipe link from Food52.com of Francis Mallmann's Potato Dominoes. No we don't clarify the butter, and we debate mandolin or patient knife work, but overall this is the simple potato dish that works every time. Here's the chatty intro and the follow up recipe details. Preorder potatoes and enjoy!

New Maple View Farm joined us in December to sustain our 9th winter offering of winter-grown greens to market shoppers. Farmer Kyle had ramped up production, (miraculously) anticipating we'd knock on his high tunnel door, but he notes his inventory will be tightest over the next 4 weeks as he waits on a new pulse of greens to mature so it can again fill out Maple View's impressive offerings in PFM-O. He asks your patience during this phase and suggests you preorder favorite items on Tuesday nights as a lighter inventory in some items will cause them to sell out quickly.

Spice Revolution has their PFM-O store loaded with so many ways to add flavor! This week they're highlighting their first batch of White Truffle Salt for 2021 (pieces of white truffle are shaved into French sea salt, creating a sea salt that is aromatic and delicious). As always a little bit goes a long way.

Conant Valley Jams says you can brighten up your mornings with a dab of fresh fruit preserves on toast, in yogurt, or in your oatmeal. This manager will go on record to verify that the purchase of their fruit-forward Anjou Pear jam did brighten many recent mornings. Pick your jam flavor and see if you feel the same. We bet you will.

Woven Stars Farm
Learn the resources Woven Stars Farms has for your menu in each of their coolers - from pork, beef, goat, lamb and chicken, they've got many choices to chose from.

Pika's Farm Table
Need an easy evening in the kitchen? Pika's Farm Table has dinner all set. Ask for her suggestion of a soup and/or quiche to take home.

Whitecliff Vineyards and Cooper's Daughter Spirits will be in Saturday. Please check out each producer's PFM-O store to explore their unique items.

Kiernan Farm has their PFM-O store ready with beef London Broils on SALE at $16.00/lb (reg. $20.00/lb), and pork St. Louis Style Rack Ribs at $12.00/lb (reg. $15.00/lb). You can preorder 1lb of their ground beef for $11.75, or toggle down to order five 1lb packages to get $10.00 off the total order.

Wait! Does everyone realize Pleasantville Farmers Market has the BEST artisanal cheese producers around? Chaseholm Farm Creamery is in this week with their yogurt, milk and soft and hard cheeses. Edgwick Farm has fresh goat milk cheeses weekly as well as delicious hard cheeses such as their Funny Child and Sackett Ridge. Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse is highlighting cheeses such as their Baudolino, Drumm, Forêt for Ray, and their cranberry walnut sticks, heirloom Fife baguette and more. Seriously, doesn't this cover your well-planned and impulsive cheese and bread needs pretty well?
