Margaret S. Shiel Langlois, Briarcliff Manor Resident, Dies At 92

Langlois worked at the New York City Board of Education.

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Margaret S. Shiel Langlois, a resident of Briarcliff Manor, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at her residence. She was 92. Margaret was born in Boston, MA, on March 21, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Patrick and Margaret Shiel.

Margaret was a graduate of Salem Teachers College in 1946. She completed her Masters at Bryant College in Providence, RI in 1960. Margaret worked towards her doctorate degree at both Brown University in Rhode Island and Columbia in New York City. She started her career in New York with the New York City Board of Education at 110 Livingston St. in Brooklyn. She retired as supervisor of research for the New York City Board of Education in District 28, Queens.

Margaret is survived by four sisters and six children: Helene Strong (Matthew), Margo Kelly (Stephen), former Town of Ossining Supervisor Susanne Donnelly (Henry), Elizabeth Langlois, Henri Langlois (Kiemi) and Irene Langlois (Mitch Greenberg) and her grandchildren Matthew Strong (Jennifer), Luke Strong, Stephen Kelly (Nicole Robinson), Peter Kelly (Gina), Michael Donnelly, Eve Greenberg, Aoi, Hikari, and Remi Langlois and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Henri and her grandson Kevin Donnelly.

Visiting hours are from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dorsey Funeral Home, 14 Emwilton Place in Ossining. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church in Ossining on Monday at 11:30 a.m. The interment will take place Thursday in Chestnut Hill, MA.
