Catherine Parlapiano, age 94, of Brookfield,CT, formerly from Briarcliff Manor, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 21,2020, in Bethel, CT.

Catherine was born “Caterina” DiMaggio on June 24, 1925 in the Bronx, NY, to Anna and Giovanni DiMaggio. Catherine was the oldest of six children, Bernard DiMaggio (deceased), Phyllis Kelleher (deceased), Isabelle Bartoli (deceased), Frank DiMaggio (deceased) and Carol Giambastiani.

She married her late husband Anthony Parlapiano on November 30, 1947 at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and after a few years of living in the Bronx they bought a home in Briarcliff Manor, NY where they lived and raised their children for over 30 years.

Catherine is survived by her two children Lisa McCabe (Brookfield, CT) and Paul Parlapiano (Wappingers Falls,NY), her son-in-law John McCabe, daughter-in-law Christine Parlapiano and four grandchildren Melissa, Myles, Nicholas and Alexa who were the light of her life. Catherine was predeceased by her loving husband in 1999.

Catherine had a love for singing and joined a choir group in town called “The Old Mill Singers” where she performed in many productions for nursing homes and senior centers.

She also enjoyed bowling and was on numerous leagues with her family and friends. Catherine also enjoyed playing cards, gardening and cooking family dinners for everyone. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a kind and gentle soul who never complained. She always took care of everyone’s needs before her own and needed to be sure everyone was OK.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining.
