Obituary: Joseph McHenry, Former Briarcliff Manor Police Chief

Joseph P. McHenry, lifelong resident of Briarcliff Manor, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020. Joe was born in Ossining, NY on March 9, 1926 and was the son of William (Chic) and Florence (Mann) McHenry. He was 94.

Joe was a graduate of Briarcliff High School and upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Peggy Rozner in August of 1953 and she predeceased Joe in 1997.

Mr. McHenry was the retired Police Chief of the Briarcliff Manor Police Department and he retired in the early 1980s after serving the Village for 18 years as its Police Chief.

Joe is survived by his two children Peter (Margie) McHenry and Colleen Washburn: his grandson Jesse Washburn: his siblings Janet Boyle and Edward McHenry. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen McHenry.

Private graveside services and burial will be held at the family plot in Copake, NY. Arrangements handled by Dorsey Funeral Home, Inc.
