Pleasantville Football Coach Recognized by NY Giants
Tony Becerra has been named "The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week" by the New York Giants.

Pleasantville High School football Head Coach Tony Becerra has a lot to be happy about these days.
Last weekend, he led the Panthers to the first section title since 1991 with a win vs. Our Lady of Lourdes, 21-8—an accomplishment that has caught the attention of even the New York Giants.
Today, the Giants named Becerra "The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week," a title that will earn him a certificate of recognition signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin, as well as a $1,000 check to benefit PHS' football program.
"Coach Becerra will be acknowledged by a stadium announcement when the Giants host the Oakland Raiders on November 10th and an announcement will also be posted on the Giants website, www.giants.com," according to the announcement on the Giants' website.
According to the announcement, Becerra has been a member of the PHS football coaching staff since 1998 and head coach for the last decade, boasting a 54-27 record.
"In that time, the Panthers have reached the playoffs seven times, won five league championships and have played in three sectional championships," the website reads. "Coach Becerra has been coaching high school football for 24 years and prior to joining the Panthers staff, he was an Assistant Coach at Horace Greeley (1996-1997), Dobbs Ferry/Hastings (1994-1995) and Fox Lane (1991-1993)."
Becerra has been a teacher in the district since 1994 and resides in White Plains, NY.
