Police ID Victim Of Sunday's Route 9 Crash

The woman was killed in a head-on collision between the car in which she was a passenger and an SUV.

MOUNT PLEASANT, NY — Police have identified the woman who died in a car crash on Route 9 near Sleepy Hollow Road Sunday morning. She is Ruth Alexandra Cajamarca-Paccha of Ossining.

Cajamarca-Paccha was killed in a head-on collision between the car in which she was a passenger and an SUV at 7:40 a.m.

Officers from the Mt Pleasant Police Department arrived at the scene to find two vehicles with extensive damage. However, the operator of one vehicle was ambulatory while the two occupants of the second vehicle had to be extricated. That work was done by the Archville and Briarcliff Manor Fire Departments.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicates a 28-year-old Ossining man was travelling north on Route 9 in a 2016 Ford Explorer and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Spark driven by a 26-year-old man driver with a 24-year-old female passenger, also from Ossining. They were headed south.

The driver of the Explorer was not injured, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. His passenger, Cajamarca-Paccha, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said numerous agencies assisted at the scene including Archville and Briarcliff Manor Fire Departments, Ossining PD, Briarcliff PD, Ossining Paramedics, Westchester EMS and Briarcliff Ambulance.

Route 9 was closed to traffic for hours during the clean-up and on-scene investigation. Police have not yet released any conclusions about the cause of the crash.
