Police Rescue Boy Stuck In Drained Pond
Police said he was up to his waist in mud about 60 feet offshore.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — A Pleasantville 12-year-old became stuck in a drained pond in Thornwood on Tuesday. Emergency responders spent 45 minutes with ladders and shoring planks getting 60 feet out from the shore to reach the boy and haul him to safety, Mount Pleasant police said.
He was waist-deep in mud in Leith's Pond at James M. Carroll Park when police arrived at 4:57 p.m. His father was there throughout the rescue, police said.
He was treated at the scene by members of the Pleasantville Ambulance Corps and Mount Pleasant EMS. He was not injured.

In addition to the medical responders, Mount Pleasant police said the rescue was coordinated also with the Thornwood Fire Department and the Westchester County Technical Rescue Team.
