Market Full Of Options
The Market begins each winter offering an inspiring harvest of meats, root crops, apples, cabbages, cheeses, preserves, honey, and more. By this time of year a few stored items from Gajeski Produce and Mead Orchards are nearing the end of their supply, and Maple View Farm is running low on some greens (mid-March their new winter-grown harvest matures). But stay inspired! Gajeski Produce's harvest of arugula, spinach and mixed salad greens is already in. And even in late winter the Market is full delicious food (stored, frozen, jarred, and fresh) to create nice menu options. One of the best parts of Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) this winter is you can easily browse the impressive quantity of items available each week (in the comfort of your warm home). Please keep arriving each Saturday to support our regional farms and the food artisans that source them. Your purchases are particularly appreciated at this time of year. And delicious home cooked meals are good for morale as we wait out these last few weeks until spring. See you outdoors at Memorial Plaza!

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Health experts have emphasized the significance of reducing sodium and increasing potassium levels in the US diet. Sodium intake can be lowered by avoiding processed foods, and by eating more produce. Potassium occurs naturally in items like beets, potatoes, winter squash and spinach"

Gajeski Produce has well stored Russet potatoes (and more). With an eye on those potatoes and a goal to produce cheerfully delicious, warming dishes in deep winter, check out this recipe link from Food52.com of Francis Mallmann's Potato Dominoes. No we don't clarify the butter, and we debate mandolin or patient knife work, but overall this is the simple potato dish that works every time. Here's the chatty intro and the follow up recipe details. Preorder potatoes and enjoy!
New Maple View Farm joined us in December to sustain our 9th winter offering of winter-grown greens to market shoppers. Farmer Kyle had ramped up production, (miraculously) anticipating we'd knock on his high tunnel door, but he notes his inventory will be tightest over the next 4 weeks as he waits on a new pulse of greens to mature so it can again fill out Maple View's impressive offerings in PFM-O. He asks your patience during this phase and suggests you preorder favorite items on Tuesday nights as a lighter inventory in some items will cause them to sell out quickly. (NOTE: Gajeski Produce has fresh arugula, spinach and mixed salad greens harvested this week, if you don't see those items in Maple View's inventory).
Spice Revolution's theme is theme is back to basics. They are featuring their spice cabinet basics. Featured spices include: Garlic powder, paprika, pepper, toasted onions, toasted onion powder and more.
Conant Valley Jams says she has a fresh batch of her Spiced Ginger Plum Jam this week -- a great accompaniment for your main course or dessert.
Woven Stars Farm is highlighting their Lamb Spare Ribs (Denver Style Ribs). They go great with a heavy seasoning of “Greek Lamb” spice from Spice Revolution.
Spirits Lab will be in Saturday. Please check out PFM-O to explore their unique items.
Kiernan Farm has their PFM-O store ready with beef London Broils on SALE at $16.00/lb (reg. $20.00/lb), and pork St. Louis Style Rack Ribs at $12.00/lb (reg. $15.00/lb). You can preorder 1lb of their ground beef for $11.75, or toggle down to order five 1lb packages to get $10.00 off the total order.
Edgwick Farm has their first 2021 seasonal pairings with their fresh soft goat cheese saying: "Sometimes you must spice up the goat cheese in a super snowy February. Or instead, sweeten it decadently with locally produced maple syrup to remind you spring is coming". Check out their PFM-O store for details and to order yours.
