FUN & SAFE MARKET, ALWAYS READY TO ADAPT

The Market is reviewing the recent COVID related protocol statements put forward by the CDC and Governor's office. All markets in NYS are directed by guidance from the Department of Agriculture & Markets, which is expected out this week. If any revisions to our health & safety protocols result we'll communicate those in a second newsletter later this week.

We should not overlook the transition already upon us: warmer spring weather is finally speeding along our growers plantings so look forward to more varieties of greens and herbs, more asparagus, the arrival of strawberries and (as a direct result) a surge in community morale. The Market has always been in a position to help lift spirits as we move fully out of winter's grasp and into a sunny summer vibe. See you at the Market!

Last Saturday’s first community, walk up vaccination event at the Market went really well! We thank all of you for helping to get the word out, and we appreciate the efforts of our Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health and their partner Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps for making all of this possible.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Eating rhubarb, which is an Anthocyanin-rich plant, provides your body with chemicals that work to get rid of cell damage. Rhubarb boasts anti-inflammatory properties and is linked with cancer protection, improved cognitive function and heart-health".

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

Cooper's Daughter Spirits and also Warwick Valley Winery & Black Dirt Distillery are in for an extra visit this Saturday. Check out their offerings in PFM-O tonight!

Chaseholm Farm Creamery brings to market quarts of yogurt made from their cow's milk. Now they've added NEW maple yogurt (same 1 quart size is offered for $8).

Wright's Farm is always baking from their farm's supply of preserves and fresh fruits. Check out their items in PFM-O or at the Market this week.

Dancing Spirits Herbs
Stock up from herbalist Clare Pierson's diverse vinegars -- she is in for her May visit Saturday.

Edgwick Farm has two seasonal pairings this week with their fresh goat cheese. One is strawberry rhubarb jam layered under the cheese. And now that green garlic is finally being harvested, the other one is a pesto made from the organic green garlic (using sunflowers seeds so nut allergies are not triggered) and layered under the cheese. Take your pick...sweet or savory...or try both!

Spice Revolution is saying it: grilling season is here! They've added a new Grilling & BBQ section to their PFM-O store. Whether it's steak, asparagus or mushrooms hitting your grill (or all three) Spice Revolution has you covered.

Demi Olive Oil will be in and is relocated to their original location, just up from Mead Orchards.

Forward Roots is ready to help you create a burst of flavor in your week's meals. Browse their items tonight in PFM-O or stop by to chat with Su In to learn options for using their delicious kimchi items.

Kriemhild Dairy Farms will be in Saturday with their full line of Meadow Butter, Cultured Meadow Butter, creme fraiche, milk and chocolate milk, and real buttermilk with cultures.

Strudel House is in for an extra visit this week. Preorder or stop by to gather slices or whole strudels from their sweet and savory offerings.

This Saturday Simply Planted Greenhouses will have beautiful Drop-n-Grows (sun and shade) for quick planting in pots or gardens and they will have 10" hanging baskets, assorted 5" annuals, herbs and vegetables too.

This week Mead Orchards will have the first strawberries of the year. Quantity is limited in this first week but shoppers seeking a quart of fresh berries will be able to get a taste by preordering tonight or by walking up Saturday (while supplies last).
