Teen Arrested After Boarding School Phone Threat In Thornwood
The threat sent police to the campus of an international boarding school and caused local schools nearby to shut down their campuses.
MOUNT PLEASANT, NY — Mount Pleasant police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the threat Tuesday that sent police swarming over the EF Academy in Thornwood and caused nearby schools to institute lockout procedures.
In a statement released Wednesday, police said they were called to the campus at 12:30 p.m. when campus security notified them of a possible threat to the school. A student had received an AirDrop stating that a shooting was going to occur in 10 minutes.
Mount Pleasant police worked with security at EF Academy to protect the school and investigate the threat. They also, according to standard protocol, notified nearby schools of the situation.

Police will not release the name of the EF Academy student who was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat because he is eligible for youthful offender status. His case has been referred to Westchester County's youth court.
