Water Main Break Forces Briarcliff MS/HS Early Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at 11 a.m., officials said.

Briarcliff Middle and High School students will have an early start to Halloween.
According to an alert from the district this morning, "Due to a water-main break on the street across the traffic light that leads to the Middle & High School campus, students will be dismissed at 11:00 A.M."
Officials noted, "There is no damage to the school buildings but the water system will be shut off in order for repairs to begin. There will be no running water in the buildings after 11:00 A.M., and therefore, for health & safety reasons, students and staff must vacate the building.  School bus transportation will be in place for the 11:00 dismissal."
There will be no after-school activities on the campus as a result. Regularly scheduled evening activities may or may not continue as scheduled, according to the district.
Village Manager Philip Zegarelli also weighed in on the water main break and said area businesses and residences may be affected.
"We are mobilizing to isolate the break but are advising you that lower pressure will occur throughout the area as we attempt to maintain service," he said. "We hope to isolate the affected area to a minimum while work is underway."
