Briarcliff Resident Robert Small Dies Following Bicycle Accident

An orthopedic surgeon with White Plains Hospital, he was a specialist in hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Robert Small, an orthopedic surgeon with White Plains Hospital, died Tuesday following a recent bicycle crash.

The Briarcliff Manor resident, and avid cyclist, was 63 years old, reports The Journal News. The crash occurred on July 10 on the North County Trailway, said Westchester County police spokesman Kieran O’Leary.

Small fell around 6:05 p.m., near Revere Drive in Yorktown. Another bicyclist called 911.

“Dr. Small was beloved by his patients and held in the highest regard by his colleagues. Dr. Small will be deeply missed by all and leaves behind a legacy of outstanding medical care,” wrote Dr. Michael Palumbo, medical director and executive vice president of White Plains Hospital, in an email to staff, as quoted by The Journal News.
