Today's opportunity is New Socks ad Underwear Drive for Children in Need. The Sharing Shelf needs volunteers to help provide clothing essentials — underwear and socks — to some of the 3,000 children and teens it serves each year.

More than 60,000 children in Westchester live in low-income homes, with 36 percent of public school children qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. For these children, the Sharing Shelf said, new underwear and new socks are often financially out of reach.
