Rye Police said the car ended up upside down in the homeowner's backyard after going over an embankment near the driveway.

RYE BROOK, NY — According to an auto insurance study, 52 percent of car accidents occur within five miles of a driver's home, but on Wednesday, a Rye Brook woman managed to get into a serious rollover car accident in her own yard.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. at a house on Valley Terrace in Rye Brook. The car ended up upside down in the homeowner's backyard after going over an embankment near the driveway.

Officials say extracting the driver from her overturned car was no easy task. Fire officials say it took less than 15 minutes to safely remove the accident victim from the car. The Port Chester Fire Department, Rye Brook Fire Department, Purchase Fire Department, Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS and Hannigan’s Towing assisted with the rescue efforts.
