Foster Kids Enjoy Their Day At A Jets Game

PRESS RELEASE: FTEN Goes to the Jets Game in style

December 8, 2019 Foster Teen Employment Network had a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks to the generosity of 306 Fayette Avenue Realty Company, Inc. 24 Westchester and Bronx children in foster care and their counselors/foster parents were treated to the Jets/Miami game at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. As everyone else at the stadium froze in their seats, these youth watched this exciting game from the comfort of a luxury skybox. Many thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Westchester for donating the refreshments.

Youth from Children’s Village, DSS of Westchester, and Jewish Child Care Association of the Bronx all attended their first pro game. They even received complimentary individualized certificates to that fact.

Foster Teen Employment Network (FTEN), is a nonprofit agency dedicated to aiding foster youth who are ageing out or have aged out of the system through providing employment and mentorship. Individuals in the FTEN program are matched with employers who have agreed to not just hire them, but serve as their mentors. These adults will mentor the youth as they enter the next phase of their life. The relationship will provide the youth with not just a job and solid work experience but necessary life skills and the tools to build healthy relationships with adults. This is something that has eluded many during their younger, more formative years. FTEN employers are lasting role models for foster youth in their journeys to become productive, happy and successful and we aim to facilitate that.
