John T. Bykowski, 69; Self-Employed Carpenter Who Volunteered with Port Chester Fire Department for 50 Years

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 19, with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for Saturday, June 20.

John T. Bykowski, 69, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, NY, died June 16, 2015.

He was born Feb. 5, 1946 in Port Chester to the late John and Mary Tabaka Bykowski.

He graduated from Port Chester High School in 1964. Mr. Bykowski was a carpenter at the Electrolux Corporation in Old Greenwich and then was a self-employed carpenter. He was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church in Byram, and was a 50-year plus member of the Brooksville Engine & Hose Co. #5 of the Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Bykowski is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy Fuss Bykowski whom he married Sept. 12, 1970 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Port Chester. He is also survived by his beloved children, John Bykowski of Port Chester, Karen Johansen and husband Tim of Port Chester, Lori Reid and husband Matthew of Clarence, NY, Joann Bykowski and David Warner of Port Chester, and Patricia Bykowski of Port Chester; grandchildren William and Sarah Reid; a sister, Sister Christine Marie, CR. of Castleton-on-Hudson, NY. and a brother, Richard Bykowski and wife Georgiann of Sarasota, Fl. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Stanley Bykowski.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Sacred Heart Church, Henry Street, Greenwich. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rye Brook, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sisters of the Resurrection, Mount Saint Joseph, Boltwood Avenue, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY 12033 or to Spina Bifida of Western New York, 137 Warner Ave., North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
