Leo Nocentelli and Jen Durkin to Perform at Garcia's

From Capitol Theatre: Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre will come alive with the sounds of New Orleans on Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12. Leading the charge is Leo Nocentelli, the founding guitarist of legendary New Orleans funk-jam-band The Meters.

Leo Nocentelli brings the New Orleans collaborative spirit to this summer weekend, dubbed, "A Weekend of Funk & Friends at Garcia's," with a group of diverse and talented musicians.

Friday, August 11 features Jen "Pipes" Durkin's Steal Your Funk, performing funky versions of the Grateful Dead and classic funk favorites. Jen Durkin got her name "Pipes" while touring with Connecticut's Deep Banana Blackout, carrying the torch of the great funk bands such as Tower of Power and Sly and the Family Stone.

Saturday, August 12, Garcia's will welcome Jaguar, the upbeat funk ensemble featuring Michelangelo Carubba and Craig Broadhead of Brooklyn based funk band Turkuaz, and Beau Sasser of Connecticut's modern funk movement, Kung Fu.
