Lucia (Lucy) DiQuinzio, 101, Former Port Chester Business Owner, Passed Away
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, Harrison, N.Y.

Lucia (Lucy) DiQuinzio, age 101, beloved wife of the late Gene DiQuinzio passed away Friday night, October 23, 2015 at Stratford Atria in Stratford, Connecticut surrounded by family members and her caring aide Nomthi.
Lucy was the daughter of Julia Santangelo and James Morrone. She was born on June 29, 1914 in Mamaroneck, New York and lived most of her 101 years in the neighboring town of Harrison, New York. She was the oldest of seven siblings all of whom have predeceased her, sisters Margaret Calasacco of Harrison, NY, Carmella Mecca of Harrison, NY, Ann Marcone of Harrison, NY, Elizabeth Soos of Boca Raton, Florida, brothers James Morrone of Purchase, NY and Gene Morrone of Rego Park, NY.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, Beverly Garon and her husband Ray of Fairfield, Connecticut, Joseph Marcone and his wife Jeanne of White Plains, New York, Daniel Marcone and his wife Deborah of Harrison, New York, and Jeanne Soos Szente and her husband Brian of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. She has been blessed with many grandnieces and grandnephews as well as many cousins. She recently joyfully celebrated the 100th birthday of her cousin Margie LaBrussciano. After her husband passed away, Lucy purchased a home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she spent her winters with family members in the area and with many new and cherished friends.
One of the most loved attributes about Lucy was her independent spirit and her indomitable perseverance. Her dedication to her family was boundless. She was steadfast in caring for each of her younger siblings in their times of need throughout her life.
When they were young, Lucy and her husband Gene wanted to expand their horizons, and they purchased a beverage business in Port Chester, New York. Together with hard work and dedication they built a thriving and successful business. Lucy always had a great curiosity about the world and its many cultures. She and her husband planned to retire early. Their dream was to travel the world together. When her husband died just prior to their early retirement date, Lucy ventured out and began to travel to fulfill the wish that they had made to see the world.
A special thank you to the staff and residents at Stratford Atria who made Lucy feel so welcome and comfortable. Nomthi Langa, her devoted aide, has been a blessing to her. Lucy always felt very fortunate to be surrounded by so many caring people at Atria.
Friends and family may call on her at the Harrison Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Gregory the Great Church, Harrison, N.Y. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle, New York.
