A Port Cheter man reported a stolen iPhone to police after a cab driver who he gave it to drove away.
The 25-year-old man got a ride home from the White Plains diner on Sept. 30 at 6:40 a.m. but had no money to pay the driver. He told the cabbie to hold his iPhone while he went inside to get some cash. The driver apparently preferred the iPhone to a few bucks cash, and drove away, the man told police.Â
Police said the passenger could not remember any description of the cab, cab company or driver and said his iPhone was dead so "Find my IPhone" would not work. No cab companies reported any drivers calling in that ride.
