Phelps Hospital Appoints Maternal Child Health Director
Yvetale Lauture-Jerome Brings 31 Years of Obstetrics Experience

Yvetale Lauture-Jerome, RN, BSN, MAS, is Phelps Hospital’s new Director of Maternal Child Health. A native of Haiti, Lauture-Jerome moved to the United States in 1972 and earned her BSN at City University of New York and a Masters of Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has specialized in obstetrics for thirty-one years in several diverse settings, ranging from high risk and high volume medical centers to low risk, low volume centers and is a Certified Sexual Assault Nurse. Yve has led obstetrics teams for nearly twenty years demonstrating her considerable talents for organization, patient advocacy and employee relations. In previous leadership roles, she has successfully focused on financial stewardship, by reducing waste of materials and maximizing staffing resources. As an education advocate, she has implemented training programs for her obstetrics teams and has been an Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics and Pediatrics. In addition to her academic and obstetrics leadership roles, Yve is passionate about her commitment to improving the health of distressed communities and she shares her knowledge internationally through her many medical mission trips to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, India, China and the Philippines. She is an avid fundraiser for Haitian charities and is an advisor to the Fraternite Valleenne, a philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the lives of children in La Vallee de Jacmel, Haiti. Yvetale resides in New Jersey.
