Port Chester Man Arraigned For Attempted Murder

The victim was able to call 911 after being shot.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A Port Chester man was arraigned Monday in Westchester County Court in relation to the shooting of another man in May. Westchester County District Attorney AnthonyA. Scarpino Jr. said Ramiro Ulises Escobar Gonzalez, 29, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Prosecutors said that, just before 10 p.m. May 17, outside 25 Waterfront Place in Port Chester, Gonzalez and the victim were talking over a beer.

During the conversation, Gonzalez pulled out a revolver and fired three shots at the victim, striking him once in the chest, police said.

The victim called 911.

Gonzalez was arrested by Port Chester police later that evening at his apartment.
