Port Chester Man Arrested for Felony Witness Tampering

Port Chester police arrested a local man and his son after they allegedly threatened a 27-year-old Port Chester man who had turned in the father for assault in July, Police Lt. James Ladeairous said.

The father, 60-year-old Juan Aballe, was arrested on July 15 after he allegedly punched the victim at Bosco’s Deli on Poningo Street that night, Ladeairous said. 

 On Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. Aballe and his son Alberto, 23, allegedly drove up to the victim while he was standing at a deli on Poningo Street. Alberto got out of the car and threatened the victim not to go to court against his father, police said. The victim told Aballe that he had a subpoena and would have to appear in court. Then Aballe punched him, Ladeairous said.

Police responded to the incident and arrested Alberto Abale at his home for witness tampering in the third degree, an E felony. Police wanted the father for criminal contempt in the second degree, because the victim had an order of protection against Juan from the July incident, but did not arrest him on Oct. 3. On Oct. 21 at 8 a.m. Juan turned himself in to police headquarters.
