Port Chester Man Sentenced For Sexual Abuse

Upon release from prison, he will have to register as a sex offender.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A Port Chester man will be going to prison for sexually abusing a child. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Hugo Zuniga, 37, of Port Chester, was sentenced to state prison following a jury's guilty verdict Oct. 11.

Zuniga will serve the following sentences for the following charges:

  • First-degree sexual abuse, a felony: 3.5 years in state prison and 3.5 years' post-release supervision
  • Endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor: 364 days in jail

The sentences will run concurrently, the district attorney's office said. Upon release, Zuniga will have to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said, in August 2018, Zuniga sexually abused a 14-year-old. He was arrested by Port Chester police Nov. 8, 2018, following a joint investigation between Port Chester police and the District Attorney's Office Special Prosecutions.
