How did you come up with the name?
In 2008 we reinvented our family business, which was called Crystal Restoration. The company has a new focus and direction as we are now a green restoration company.
Why choose that location?
Why start a business in this town? Our company has always been in Westchester. Since 1960 our family has been helping property owners after a disaster. Centrally located in Westchester we can offer a prompt response to property owners after a disaster caused by fire and flood. We love Westchester. We are 3 generations strong, living and working in our local community.
Briefly, what business are you in?
New Crystal Restoration helps property owners after a disaster. We restore homes and businesses which have sustained fire, water and mold damage. Proudly noted as Westchester’s 1st restoration company, we have helped our neighbors after storms and disasters for 55 years. In 2008, after our founder’s retirement, the company was reinvented and the New Crystal Restoration was formed. We hold steadfast to the high standards set by our founder who placed a high premium on dependable customer service, now using safe, eco-friendly products that are very effective but pose no danger. The decision to go green was fueled by our family’s health struggles as one of the owners has a son with autism who is adversely affected by smells, toxins and harsh chemicals. We decided that it was best to keep all safe and now we hold the distinction of being Westchester’s 1st green restoration company.
Were there any challenges that made you second-guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
None, I grew up in a business which helped our local neighbors and I’m proud to carry on this family tradition. We might not be the biggest, but we’re the best.
What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
The huge number of local residents and business that we have been able to assist after a disaster. We start the project seeing the fear and despair in their eyes and leave their properties with a wide smile on their faces.
What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
Going green. While most if not all restoration companies continue to use toxic harsh chemicals to restore property, New Crystal Restoration is the safe non-toxic choice.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
We treat our customers like we like to be treated. We spend time explaining the restoration process, listening to their specific needs and make every effort to treat them with the level of professionalism and support they deserve.
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
We are participants in numerous charitable and local community events. We are strongly committed to helping the special needs and autism community. New Crystal Restoration will and does make every effort to accommodate this vulnerable population. New Crystal Restoration proudly supports- Cardinal McCloskey Community Services, Support Connection (Breast and Ovarian Cancer), the Parkinson’s Foundation, and several other charitable organizations. Giving back is important to the New Crystal Restoration team.
