Rocco A. Polistina, 90, Lifelong Port Chester Resident, Died Dec. 2
Mr. Polistina is credited with 17 patents in Polymer Chemistry. A memorial service was held on Monday in Port Chester.

Rocco A. Polistina, 90, a resident of Port Chester died December 2, 2015. He was born September 29, 1925 in Reggio, Calabria, Italy to the late Goffredo and Francesca LaBocetta Polistina. He was raised and edcuated in Italy graduating from the University of Bologna. He also received a BA in Chemistry from Columbia University.
Mr. Polistina was married to Concetta Tripodi on August 20, 1950 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester. He was a retired polymer chemist for American Cyanamid in Stamford, CT. In his time at American Cyanamid, Rocco is credited with 17 patents in Polymer Chemistry. The most prominent is for the dissolvable suture. He retired in 1986.

Mr. Polistina is survived by his wife Tina Polistina of Port Chester, NY., his children Godfrey J. Polistina of Port Chester, NY., Rose P. Wickwire and husband Peter of Arvada, Co., and Dean C. Polistina and wife Mary Anne of Greenwich, CT., grandchildren Jessica, Francesca, Sophia, Peter “PJ”, Christopher, Stephen, Carly, Grace and Maggie, sister Irene Di Benedetto of Italy. He was predeceased by his brother Goffredo Polistina and sister Annunziata Gulli.
Visitation was 4-8PM on Sunday December 6, 2015 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday December 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment is private.
