School-Age Adoptees Group Meetings at PC-RB Library

Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library!
Forever Families Through Adoption (FFTA) is pleased to announce the continuation of its FREE group for school-age adoptees. Children will enjoy participating in fun and dynamic activities, including creative projects, interactive games, and cooperative problem solving. They’ll get to know others who share the experience of adoption. Adoptees’ experiences will be normalized and they will experience enhanced skills and self-esteem. Group leaders will also provide to parents of group members, informational resources, opportunities for discussion, and weekly feedback.
Where? Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, 1 Haseco Avenue, Port Chester, NY 10573Â

Who? Children adopted through any process (private domestic, international, kinship or state/county) residing in Westchester County and surrounding areas
When? November 5th, 12th, 19th & December 3rd, 10th, 17th, 4:00pm to 5:00pm. The group will meet for six one-hour sessions

What? This unique group will focus on self expression, pro-social skills, and creating an open forum for discussion. Group sessions will be led by Anna Sandbank, LCSW, a social worker and Program Director at FFTA, and Rachel Lauria, a social worker, adoptee, and member of FFTA’s Board of Directors. Adoption will be the common link connecting group members and their families together, and will be addressed as related topics and questions arise from participants.

All services are provided free of charge and attendees are responsible for their own transportation.
