Man Who Trapped Woman, Children In Village Home Arraigned: UPDATE
The man alleged pointed a shotgun at his mother.

PORT CHESTER, NY — The man with a shotgun who allegedly trapped a woman and three children in a village home was arraigned Thursday afternoon. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Abe Massa, 29, of Port Chester was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony.
Massa remains in custody, and his case was adjourned until Oct. 15.
The felony complaint alleges that around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, Massa pointed a loaded shotgun at the ceiling and fired one shot while in the presence of his mother.

He later pointed the loaded shotgun at her and fired a second shot into a wall.
Port Chester police responded to the Willet Avenue location and safely removed three children and an adult from the house.

While police were inside the building, they heard a gunshot from somewhere inside, after which police located Massa and his mother.
They were able to disarm Massa and place him under arrest without incident.
Massa was subsequently taken to the Westchester Medical Center.

PORT CHESTER, NY — An emotionally disturbed man trapped a woman and three children inside a Port Chester home Wednesday, and village police had to rescue them. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Willet Avenue.
Officers made two trips into the house, first to get the children and then to rescue the woman, the Journal News said.
Port Chester police posted on the department's Facebook page that, when officers entered the home, a shot was heard from the upper floor.
After getting the woman and children out, officers re-entered the home to find the man.
When they located him, he turned the gun on himself and made suicidal statements, police said.
The situation was de-escalated and the man eventually dropped the gun.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
There were no injuries, police said.
