Truck Strikes Parkway Overpass — Again

The same overpass was struck by trucks 14 times in 2018.

RYE BROOK, NY — An overpass that has been plagued with truck strikes has begun the new year with another incident. A tractor-trailer that was traveling northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway hit the King Street overpass around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

There are signs that alert truck drivers to get off the parkway before it become the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut, News 12 said.

Fourteen trucks struck the King Street overpass in 2018, prompting a proposal for an assessment of signage by the Department of Transportation and an education programs for users of all parkways.
