Uncle Shoehorn began nearly 15 years ago as a Grateful Dead cover outfit. After adding the horn section 4 years ago, the band moved in a decidedly more funky direction, but never forgot its roots.
"Because most Dead music doesn't have native horn parts in it, we hadto write our own horn arrangements" said rhythm guitarist and singer Todd Lapenna who's degree in music made him the natural choice to
produce the arrangements. "Our fans went wild when we brought things full circle and reintroduced funk-ta-fied renditions of Dead and Jerry Garcia Band favorites to our performances" said Lapenna.
