Village Of Port Chester Wants To Become City
The process will need the approval of the state Legislature and the governor.

PORT CHESTER, NY — The Village of Port Chester is tired of being a village and seeks to become a city. The board of trustees voted unanimously voted to spend $25,000 to examine the whether the municipality of becoming the county’s seventh city.
The funds will go toward updating studies from 1980 done by Pace University looking into the viability of turning the village into a city, the Journal News said.
Among the hurdles will be getting permission from the state Legislature and the governor.
