Volunteer Opportunity Of The Week: Summer Camp, Gardening
Every week, Patch will spotlight a volunteer opportunity or two somewhere in the Hudson Valley.
Each week Patch will be highlighting a volunteer opportunity — or two or three — in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — in perhaps a way you didn't consider before.
And if you have some need for volunteers, be sure to let us know by emailing michael.woyton@patch.com.
This week we are putting the spotlight on two chances to help local communities.

The first is looking for volunteers at least 16 years of age to assist with summer camp activities for the Carver Center in Port Chester, which provides school-aged children with a six-day full-day enrichment and recreation experience that helps them keep learning during the summer vacation.
Volunteers will help with such activities as dance, gardening, art, literacy, math, basketball and swimming. Applications must be in by June 1.

The second volunteer opportunity would be perfect for retired teachers.
Hudson Park Children's Greenhouse, Inc., is looking for garden educators to help teach New Rochelle elementary students about gardening, plants, science and nature.
Hands-on classes are conducted seasonally during the school year, and required credentials include education with an interest in gardening. There will be a background check.
