
PORT JEFFERSON, NY — One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash in Port Jefferson Monday afternoon.
According to Suffolk police, Kenneth Regan, 63, was driving a 2005 Buick west on North Country Road when he attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot at 70 North Country Road. He collided with the driver of a 2013 Toyota heading east at about 2:45 p.m., police said.
Regan, of Mount Sinai, was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital across the street from the crash scene. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota, 37-year-old Leanne Schreiber, of Miller Place, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A passenger in Regan’s vehicle was taken Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The passenger's name was not released.

No charges were filed.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives asked anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
