DWI Arrest After Car Crashes Into Port Jefferson Pole, Porch: PD
The driver drove his 2017 Honda into a utility pole and porch at about 3:40 a.m., and sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say.
PORT JEFFERSON, NY —A 28-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he drove his car into a pole and porch in Port Jefferson, Suffolk police said Friday.
Police said James Wilkom of Port Jefferson was charged with DWI after he crashed his 2017 Honda outside of a home on East Broadway at about 3:40 a.m. Wilkom was transported to Mather Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.
In a post to Facebook, a woman who lives on the block where the crash occurred lauded the Port Jefferson Fire Department for their quick actions.

“They arrived quickly and went to work shoring up the house,” she wrote, adding, “And a great thanks to the good Samaritan who stopped on his way home from work and is an EMT who helped the driver until SCPD and PJ Ambulance arrived! Our PJ residents & neighbors are truly great! Thank you for helping your neighbors at all times!.”
