The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Long Island Thursday. It will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
A low pressure system will approach the Tri-State area Wednesday and pass through on Thursday. Rain late Wednesday night could become heavy at times Thursday morning with the potential of heavy downpours into the early afternoon, the NWS says.
Up to 2.5 inches of rain is expected to fall on the island. Flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas as well as small streams will be possible Thursday.

The next chance for snow will come Sunday when there's a 30 percent chance of snow showers. No accumulations at this time are expected with any of the snow showers, the NWS says.

Breezy, with a south wind 17 to 23 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
