Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

Heads up. Some nasty weather is headed our way.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

Heavy rainfall is possible Thursday night that could lead to areal flooding...mainly for urban and flood prone regions.

There is the potential for several inches of rainfall Thursday night and Friday morning, the NWS says. There's also a slight chance of thunderstorms.

The rain is expected to begin around 8 p.m. Thursday and continue through Friday morning. Showers may linger into Friday afternoon.

Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 63. South wind 5 to 13 mph.

Thursday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Southeast wind 5 to 11 mph.

Thursday Night- Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 69. Southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday- Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 80. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 66.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 81.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 66.
