Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

LONG ISLAND, NY – The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Long Island with rain and gusty winds in the forecast Sunday.
A wind advisory will be in effect for the entire island from 1 p.m. to midnight.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may also be blown down, causing a few power outages, the weather service says.

The strongest winds are expected Sunday evening and night. There's also a slight chance of thunderstorms during the evening hours.
Coastal flooding is possible along the South Shore in Nassau County Sunday morning. Up to a half-foot of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

The full forecast:
Saturday Night- Clear, with a low around 35. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
Sunday- Showers likely, mainly after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 61. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday Night- Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a chance of showers between 11pm and 2am. Low around 45. Windy, with a south wind 20 to 28 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday- Sunny, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 39. West wind 13 to 17 mph.
Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.
Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.
Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 40.
Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 28.
Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
