Heat Advisory Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Long Island. It will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The heat index, how it feels when the temperature is combined with the humidity, will be around 95 degrees. There is a risk of heat exhaustion during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.

Monday Afternoon- A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind around 10 mph.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 88. Heat index values as high as 95. South wind 7 to 13 mph.

Tuesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 72. South wind 8 to 13 mph.

Wednesday- A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. South wind 7 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night- Showers likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.

Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Friday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
