Heat Advisory, Severe Thunderstorms Possible Thursday
The heat index may hit 100 degrees Thursday and there is a risk of severe storms. Check out the hour-by-hour forecast.

We are finally going to see some relief from the brutal heat soon, but Thursday is not the day. A heat advisory will be in effect for most of the island and there is the potential for severe thunderstorms later in the day.
The heat index – how hot it feels with the humidity factored in – hit 93 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport Wednesday and it will likely approach 100 degrees on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.
A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. for all but the East End, where the heat index will likely "only" reach the mid-90s.
